This tranquil spot houses the foundations of a very old early Christian church (Cill Rois), surrounded by a historic graveyard. Here you will find, among other things, the striking mausolea of the Vandeleur family, the region's former landed gentry. The graveyard is also a poignant monument to the Great Famine; countless anonymous victims lie buried here in mass graves. The nearby former St. Senan’s Church of Ireland (now Teach Cheoil) from 1813, with its characteristic tower, forms a striking landmark in this rich heritage landscape.

Formerly a Catholic church, the attached cemetary contains a mix of Catholic and Anglican burials. The church is locked during the day, but is used for music performances in addition to being an active church.
