The viewpoint on the Main Loop Trail is located on a "rock dome", a bare white quartzite rock in the La Cloche Mountain Range; it is reached after a short climb through a sparse mixed forest with deciduous trees and conifers. The view to the south extends over the wooded plain to the North Channel, part of Lake Huron and to Manitoulin Island; to the southeast, the quartzite quarry can be seen beyond the highway.
