Itzehoe Abbey awaits you in the heart of Itzehoe. Originally founded as a Cistercian abbey, it looks back on a turbulent history. However, flooding forced the nuns to relocate to its current location in 1263. After the Reformation, the monastery became a Protestant convent, which still exists today. Some of the old monastery buildings have been preserved and offer fascinating insights into the past. If you'd like to extend your tour from here, a detour to Breitenburg Castle is a perfect addition. Further information can be found here: kloster-itzehoe.de/geschichte-des-klosters
