In the main season (May to September) there is an information and gastronomic supply facility for visitors. Food is cooked and baked on site. The lamb soup is highly recommended. Kjötsúpa is the traditional Icelandic lamb soup. It is the absolute classic of Icelandic cuisine and is prepared with tender lamb, root vegetables (such as potatoes, carrots, turnips) and rice. It is often seasoned with thyme and traditionally served with bread. There are also freshly baked doughnuts, such as Ástarpungar, "Icelandic Love Balls". We ate raisin doughnuts and were thrilled.
