Wonderful location and formative for the village

    Translated by Google •

Away from the Niedersonthofener lake, in the center of the 1000 inhabitants counting village, stands probably the most important late gothic church of the district.

The imposing impression of space is determined by the barrel vault with late gothic nets in the choir, the colorful Baroque ceiling painting "The Heavenly Glory" and the Gothic fresco on the right, "The Last Judgment", probably beginning of the 16th century. Christ enthroned above, surrounded by heavenly hosts. From the once gothic equipment only the baptismal font with the year 1475 is preserved.

In 1694, the present high altar was acquired with the intention of vividly depicting the Calvary and salvation. The focus is the crucifixion group, above a representation of the Holy Trinity. The two side altars show on the right the "Assumption of Mary" and on the left "the rest on the flight to Egypt". Likewise as an invitation for the beholder to do likewise, the apostles and saints who have tried to spread the Good News are being held at the galleries.
