The mill was built in 1875 after the previous mill burned down. The mill was used by the last professional miller of this mill, Tiddo Muda, until the 80s for peeling barley. After his death, the mill was in operation until 1998 on a voluntary basis and has since been in operation again shortly after the restoration. During this restoration, the mill received a new scaffold (circulation) and a new cross with the streamlines systems Van Bussel and Dekker and new self-leveling valves. The mill is owned by the Molenstichting Winsum today.
