This striking building from the 1870s resembles a Scottish castle, but originally served as a barracks for the Royal Irish Constabulary. According to a persistent legend, it was mistakenly built using plans that were actually intended for a barracks in India. Today, it houses a fascinating heritage centre on local history, archaeology, and Daniel O'Connell. Its imposing architecture with turrets and its riverside location on the River Valentia make it one of the city's most photographed locations.
