As early as 1232, a chapel is said to have stood on the site of the Tautenburg, the mansion of the inns. The foundation stone for today's neo-Gothic Petrus-Johannes-Kirche was laid on June 18, 1882. The building looks very imposing and is worth a visit.

On June 18, 1882, the foundation stone for the current church was laid, which was built in the neo-Gothic style. Pastor Hermann Otto Stölten and church architect Karl Weise were the driving forces behind it. The church was inaugurated on September 15, 1883 with the participation of the donors and sponsors. Schenk zu Tautenburg from East Prussia and the Grand Duke of Weimar were also present.
