"The Angerlohe is a 40-hectare wooded area in the Munich district of Untermenzing.
After the Allacher Lohe, the Angerlohe is the most significant remnant of the former Lohwaldgürtel. It is an oak-hornbeam forest, which was used in historical times as so-called Niederwald at intervals for firewood production. The light character created by this use is largely lost, but there are small glades with valuable flora. The ground vegetation of the Angerlohe is lushly developed. There are u. a. endangered or protected species such. B. Spring Knot, Turks, Aaronstab, Yellow and White Wood Anemones and numerous fungus species represented. Dead wood is not removed and is therefore abundant. The protected toad toad lives in three ponds. [1]
The Angerlohe is part of the Munich Green Belt and designated as a conservation area. It was reported to the European Union together with the northern adjoining landscape parts and the Allacher Lohe as Fauna-Flora-Habitat area (FFH area No. 7734-302) for the European biotope network Natura 2000. An enchanted forest in the north of Munich. Countless small paths criss-cross the forest and you will meet first and foremost walkers with dogs. Many fallen trees (as of June 2019) make life difficult for cyclists.

The Angerlohe, like the Allach Forest, with its typical stock of oaks and hornbeams, represents a remnant of the Lohwald belt in the north of Munich. The high-quality trees are characterized above all by the strong prominence of the hornbeam and the complete absence of conifers. Source: muenchen.de
