A very nice destination. Mentioned for the first time in the 15th century, it was first a castle then a hunting lodge. The origin of the name is not entirely clear.

A bronze stele by sculptor Joseph Michael Neustifter has been unveiled in the area in front of Blutenburg Castle since September 14, 2013. It was donated by the Obermenzinger couple Ursula and Fritz Heimbüchler as a reminder of the love between Duke Albrecht III and the bathing daughter Agnes Bernauer. So far there has been no reference to the tragic events between 1430 and 1435 around the young Albrecht and his partner, who was finally drowned in the Danube by Albrecht's father, Duke Ernst. After several years of preparation, a suitable place for the plant was finally found. The stele with many small details to be discovered is intended as a response to the history of the castle, the inclination of the two heads is the symbol of falling in love (source: blutenburg.de).

Nice rest area with a small café. A small chapel in the castle. As well as the international youth library and the James Krüss Museum. The James Krüss Tower was inaugurated in 2001 on the occasion of his 75th birthday. Which he never saw again. The tower contains original editions, manuscripts, illustrations and book drafts by Krüss. Born in Heligoland, he died in 1997 and was buried at sea off Heligoland.

A memorial to love: Agnes Bernauer, the daughter of the bathers. The bronze monument stands in front of the Blutenburg Castle. The sculptor Joseph Michael Neustifter made it. It was set up on 09/14/2013. It is supposed to commemorate the love of Duke Albrecht III and the bather's daughter Agnes Bernauer (1430 - 1435). Agnes Bernauer is said to have been drowned in the Danube by Albrecht's father, Duke Ernst, because she did not come from the noble class.

Great location in the middle of the city. Since an inn is also open, it is also an ideal resting place!
