Bike Touring Highlight
The history of the settlement can be traced back over 1000 years. Due to floods and shifting dunes, their location was uncertain until the beginning of modern times. At times the village was located on an island called Callinghe op 't Oghe. The predecessor of the current location, which was about 3 km from today's coastline, went under in the All Saints' Flood of 1570 (Wikipedia).

Callantsoog is always worth a visit. You can eat very well at Ijsie Prima (right on the market square) an ice cream or frozen yogurt (our tip !!) or otherwise eat a bite and at the Albert Heijn cheap the drinks. Highly recommended are the beach pavilions on the other side of the dune, where you can enjoy good food and a great view.
