The telegraph on Kaje 8, built in 1846 by Otto Lasius, has been a significant part of the permanent exhibition since the museum was founded in 1960. From May 2013 to September 2014, the building was closed due to extensive monumental restoration work and a revision of the permanent exhibition. Since September 27, 2014, the main building of the museum is reopened (Wikipedia).

The Braker Telegraph is the landmark of the city. The brick building, built in 1846, was built as an optical telegraph station for the reception and forwarding of ship news between Bremerhaven and Bremen.
Today, the Telegraph is home to a part of the "Maritime Museum of the Oldenburg Unterweser". The telegraph tower contains all kinds of exhibits such as ship models, ship portraits and nautical instruments. You can also see nautical folk art here. These include paintings, ship models under glass and in bottles, as well as carvings and work from ropes.
