The Maximilian via ferrata is a demanding mini-ferrata, which partly leads over exposed, unsecured ridge sections (difficulty 1) and requires surefootedness. It connects the Grosser Rosszahn with the Roterdspitze, with beautiful views down to the Seiser Alm and the Rosengarten. The path was built in 1969 by the hut warden of the Tierser Alpl hut.Route description:
From the Tierser Alpl refuge, briefly up the south side under the gorge to the first rope (A), into the narrow gorge and up to the gap with a beautiful view of the Seiser Alm (footholds and secured at the end). Continue left to the summit ridge (A/B) and summit of the Grosser Rosszahn, 2,653 m. On the west side through a rock gate and a wall section (B) down to the connecting ridge and partly climbing (1, A) over to the Roterdscharte, 2,556 m (emergency exit and return to the hut possible there, initially A). Initially secured (A) and then free climbing (1) over the east ridge (B) to the highest point of the Schlern plateau, the Roterdspitze, 2658 m, with a great panoramic view.Source: bergsteigen.com/touren/klettersteig/maximilian-klettersteig
