This statue is a bust of Panos Polkas (Πάνος Πόλκας), the former mayor of Kalavryta, Greece. The monument stands in his hometown.
He was born in 1920 and passed away in 2002. Polkas was the first elected mayor of Kalavryta after the end of the military dictatorship, serving for over five terms from 1974 to 1990.
He is considered the visionary behind the Kalavryta Ski Center on Mount Chelmos, which he initiated to promote the local economy and create jobs for young people.
