The Körnebach flows eastwards, flows into the Seseke at Kamen, which flows into the Lippe at Lünen. From there it goes on to the Rhine. Körnebach has a length of 12.9 kilometers. The stream has a total of three tributaries, all of which have been renatured sewers.
In 1926 the Körnebach was expanded for open sewage disposal. Until 1996, the Körnebach was purely a waste water course, as the Scharnhorst sewage treatment plant was not yet in operation. The untreated water was eventually led into the Seseke, which flows into the Lippe in Lünen.
In 1998, as part of the Seseke project, the Körnebach was cleaned and restored to its natural state. This took place in five stages. Since the beginning of 2006, the Körnebach has been a pure water course, which improves the development of the flora and fauna in the vicinity of the creek.

When all so-called renaturation (so-called "Uferweg") has been completed - there is a great bike path across the Ruhr area to the Rhine. It is being built by the public water management associations "Emschergenossenschaft and Lippeverband".

A very nice paved path along the edge of the Körne. Great to ride on and definitely suitable for the whole family.
