The stylishly furnished restaurant in the classical castle serves straightforward international cuisine.

      Elmendorffburg
Nowadays, the Elmendorffburg is a beautiful, elegant and cozy restaurant with a beautiful outdoor area.

Built in 1831 in classicist style and heavy red brick, the property on which the Elmendoffburg still stands today belonged to one of the 22 Burgmannshöfe of Vechta. The current building is located on the main street of the city, the Burgstraße, where citizens with their fully loaded horse-drawn carriages and their cattle moved north and had to cross the small Nepomukgraben. If you listen carefully today - and follow the splashing of the water - you will also discover the small creek just opposite the castle.
As diverse as the stories surrounding the Elmendorffburg are the inhabitants who used the building in the past centuries. Such as the noble family of Elmendorffs, who lived here as Burgmannen of the bishop of Münster here. More than 80 years ago, students from the Vechta Alexander School and employees of the Vechta Cadastre Office, who worked from 1924 to 1926 on the upper floor of the Elmendorffburg, walked the gray-and-blue tiles that you can still see in the entrance area. Today, the quaint building with its own, rustic charm in direct contrast to the modern town hall looks like a haunted place. And this impression continues inside as well. Maybe you will discover here one or the other small traces of bygone days?
