Landwehr, Landgraben and Landhege are the terms used to describe border marking or border security works and enclosures of settlement areas with the right to enclose or enclose entire territories. These settlement protection structures are mostly dated to the High and Late Middle Ages and in some cases are over a hundred kilometers long.
