The Duomo of Milan (Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica of the Nativity of Saint Mary) is the undisputed symbol of Milan, as well as the largest church in Italy and an absolute masterpiece of world Gothic architecture. Built entirely of precious white-pinkish marble from Candoglia, it boasts over 3,400 statues, 135 spires, and the famous golden Madonnina that soars to a height of 108.5 meters.
