The Itimad-ud-Daula Mausoleum was built between 1622 and 1628 by Nur Jahan, the chief wife of the Mughal ruler Jahangir, for her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg and designed with great love. The latter came from Persia and received the honorary title Itimad ud-Daula (Pillar of the State) for his merits as treasurer and later as vizier of the empire.
