The Taj Mahal is a beautiful, white-marble mausoleum built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Located on the south bank of the Yamuna River near Agra, India, the Taj Mahal took 22 years to build and was finally completed in 1653. Considered one of the New Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal amazes every visitor not only with its symmetry and structural beauty, but also with its intricate calligraphy, inlaid flowers made of precious stones, and magnificent gardens.
