The Residenzschloss in Neuburg an der Donau is one of the most significant Renaissance buildings in Southern Germany and, with its distinctive round towers, shapes the cityscape directly on the banks of the Danube. The castle was built starting in 1505 when Neuburg became the capital of the newly founded Principality of Palatinate-Neuburg.
