The "dicke Theo" is a mighty boulder that made its way from Scandinavia to present-day Bad Oeynhausen around 200,000 years ago during an ice age. It was discovered in 1970 during civil engineering work in Bad Oeynhausen and transported to its current location with heavy equipment from the Eisenwerke Weserhütte AG (then still a locally based company of world renown). How the boulder got its name is not yet known to me. But there must surely be a good reason. Perhaps there is a little story to tell about it?
