A beautiful and useful vehicle-free Werre crossing between the Fürstenwinkel (to the north) and the Sielpark/Else-Werre cycle path (to the south). I drive over there often. The new bridge (which replaced the ailing wooden bridge in 2021) is significantly better and more comfortable to drive on.👍🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

Dr. Walther Kronheim was the first mayor of Bad Oeynhausen after Germany was liberated from National Socialism.

The fact that he was Jewish, had a history of persecution behind him and that this also took place in Bad Oeynhausen has been forgotten, as has the Oeynhausen farmer who saved his life.

The farmer in question here is Karl Steinmeyer. He hid the Jewish lawyer Dr. Walther Kronheim for about three months on his farm on the Hamkebach in Körnerstrasse in early 1945.
