Road cycling
Really good views of the surrounding area, lakes and mountains. Two good climbs and some fast descents between Turangi and Waimarino. This is sometimes used as a diversion when SH1 is closed but most days it is relatively quiet. The temperature can drop rapidly as alpine weather moves in.
