  • It is the place of the "water division" in which the waters that feed the Canal du Midi, coming from the overlying Bassin de Saint Ferreol, divide to feed the two branches of the Canal which is at its highest point here. To the right the water begins to descend towards the "Ecluse de l'Ocean" towards Toulouse, the Garonne and the Atlantic Ocean, and to the left towards the "Ecluse de la Mediterranee" which, through the French south (Midi, in fact) reaches through Carcassonne and Beziers the Mediterranean Sea.
