In 1915 it was decided to erect a war memorial in Rodewisch for those who died in the 1870/71 war and, anticipating that, for those who died in the First World War.
Since there were numerous war memorials or memorials in the area, only not in Rodewisch, the idea for a separate memorial was taken up again in 1932.
Now the memorial should become a monument for eternity. The structural planning lasted until 1939. The laying of the foundation stone took place on April 15 of that year.
Today the complex is more reminiscent of a ruined castle. The ruin lies overgrown on the hill of the Rützengrüner height in Rodewisch. Even if the condition is not the best, the memorial is a memorial of the times.
