Hiking

Beautiful place with at the upper end enthroned city church St Laurentius and below on the Nicolaistraße with newly built Saxon Postmeilensäule and the Altmarktbrunnen. The church has a very beautiful acoustics with an organ of the brothers Jehmlich Dresden, built in the years 1838-1840. There are always concerts from different music genres.

Hiking

Sights on the Altmarkt are the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Laurentius and the Saxon Post Milestone Column. The modern and extremely popular GlücksCafé invites you to linger. The Greek restaurant "Sirtaki" is also a good place to stop off. Temporary parking spaces can also be found directly on the sloping Altmarkt. In addition, the Altmarkt is also a central venue for many city events, such as the city festival (every 2 years since 2018 on the first weekend in August), the pottery market (mid-August) and the shopping night (September).
