The Hermitage of Veracruz is one of the most representative historical churches in the town of Torrenueva. It forms part of the town's traditional group of hermitages and has played a central role in religious life, especially during Holy Week in Torrenueva.
Its construction dates from between the 16th and 17th centuries.
It is known that it did not exist before the 16th century, as it does not appear in the Topographical Reports of Philip II. However, by 1694 it was already fully erected, according to documents that mention the confraternity that used it.
