The Hermitage of San Antón is one of the historic hermitages of Torrenueva, linked for centuries to the devotion to Saint Anthony, patron saint of animals.

Originally, it was dedicated to Saint Sebastian, at least until approximately 1740. A Confraternity of Saint Sebastian already existed in 1575, demonstrating its antiquity.
From 1740 onwards, devotion to Saint Sebastian declined while devotion to Saint Anthony grew, probably due to the local tradition of "running the animals to the hermitage" on his feast day.
