The Messlinger Mühle has been turning its wings to the wind for over 175 years. This special event could hardly be celebrated in 2013 if the general die-off of the mills in the 1970s had also affected the Messlinger mill. As a "disgrace" to the environment, the mill narrowly escaped demolition in 1975 after grinding operations had ceased. The district of Minden-Lübbecke considered preserving and restoring the mills. The Messlinger mill was also restored and renewed from the ground up. Today, the Messlinger Mühle shines again in its old glory.
