Hiking

From 1495 to 1812, Knittlingen was a stop on the Thurn and Taxis postal coach route from Italy to Holland. Construction of the post office building at the Upper Gate began in 1556. Destroyed by war in the 17th century, the Thurn and Taxis post office building was rebuilt in 1708. The former Thurn and Taxis station remained privately owned until 1928, when it was sold to the town council.
