The 20,000 square meter deer enclosure was created in 2018. In 1735 the last stag was shot in the Fürth city forest. His antlers now hang as a trophy with an inscription in the log cabin behind the city forester's office.
The enclosure cost around 55,000 euros, with the top dog, according to city forester Martin Straussberger, being available for 1,000 euros and the nine hinds for only about half.
However, this did not affect the municipal budget. The local recreation association Lorenzer Reichswald, of which Fürth also belongs, contributed 20,000 euros. Sparda-Bank contributed a further 20,000 euros, the remaining 15,000 euros came from the foundation of the generous Fürth nature lover Karl-Heinz Böhm.

It's truly wonderful to observe the red deer. There are shady benches where you can take a break and observe the animals in peace. Some sections of the road in the immediate vicinity are quite sandy and therefore difficult to navigate, making driving up and down the road a bit of a challenge. Nevertheless, the visit is definitely worth it.
