On this section of the Laje Trail near Viseu, the route also passes through a forested area rich in tree biodiversity. A noteworthy feature here is an inscription on a large rock, known as the Maltese Cross, a symbol of the presence of the Order of Malta in the Ranhados lands. According to oral tradition, this spot marked the meeting point for pilgrims heading to the Sanctuary of Santa Eufemia.
