At the point where the Dubai Water Canal meets Sheikh Zayed Road, there is an artificial waterfall on a bridge that is illuminated by purple light. It stops automatically as soon as a boat or ship approaches the waterfall. The spectacle of water and light is visible from the promenade.

This is a mechanical waterfall, where the Canal meets the Sheikh Zayed Road bridge. This motion-operated water wonder pumps water through the bridge in a constant flow, visible from the promenade, and can be switched off when a sensor detects a boat nearby. Wonderful to view when lit up - unfortunately it was not switched on during my visit in the day.
