Entering The Galaxy on Route 89 between Lake Powell and Bryce Canyon makes you feel like you're in a 1950s movie. Neon light, plastic, imitation leather and a Wurlitzer ... The service with a very brittle charm, serves a good meal. The prices are moderate. Closes at 21.00 (!). There is only one alternative in Hatch during the week, which is expensive and the food is worse.

The Galaxy in Hatch is a fun throwback stop along Route 89: all neon, retro décor, and diner charm that feels straight out of the 1950s. It’s a relaxed place for a solid, reasonably priced meal, and a welcome break if you’ve been riding between Bryce Canyon and the Lake Powell region. Just note that it closes early at 9 p.m. Weekday options in Hatch are limited, and this is easily the most reliable and rider-friendly choice in town.
