The Polkenmühle was first mentioned in documents in 1378, belonging to the knight's seat of those of Arras in Leisnig care. Destruction caused by the turmoil of war and fires caused the location of the "mul under den Bolken" to change several times until the still existing mill building was erected in 1897. At that time, the grinders were still driven by a water wheel.
The Polkenmühle is one of the last remaining grain mills in the Döbeln, Grimma, Torgau and Oschatz area. The operator purchases the grain to be ground exclusively from farmers and agricultural businesses in the region.
