This giant sequoia is a natural monument. It is also one of the last relics that still commemorates the natural scientist Maximilian zu Wied on Monrepos. He lived from 1782 to 1867 and planted this huge tree around 1832. In view of the fact that sequoias can be several thousand years old, this one is still a "youngster" - nevertheless it is impressive.
