The Monumento a Torrijos is an impressive obelisk in the Plaza de la Merced in Málaga, Spain. It was designed by the architect Rafael Mitjana y Ardison and was unveiled in 1842 in memory of José María de Torrijos y Uriarte and his 48 companions who were executed on the Playa de San Andrés in 1831.
The monument consists of a base with a crypt where the remains of Torrijos lie, and a slender obelisk with bronze laurel wreaths. It is an important symbol of freedom and one of the most important civic monuments of the 19th century in Málaga.
