This is a mural of the interior of the now-defunct Mariakerk (St. Mary's Church) in Utrecht, created by the artist collective "De Strakke Hand."
The mural is located on Maria Maiorplein, on the exact spot where the church once stood.
The artwork is a tribute to the church, which was demolished in the 19th century.
The painting is based on a 10 by 10 centimeter sketch of the church from 1636 by the Dutch painter Pieter Saenredam.
"De Strakke Hand" added contemporary elements, such as a student from the nearby conservatory and a few dogs.
