Originally a manor (country house) and farm, probably belonging to the lords of Beaufort (1200). It is only really mentioned in writings from the 14th century onwards. In the 17th century, it acquired its current appearance in Maasland Renaissance style. The main building originally had several towers, but one of the west facade disappeared, probably during the wars with King Louis XIV.
