Gravel riding
The Traisen is one of the most important rivers in Lower Austria and significantly shapes both the landscape and the economy of the Mostviertel. The Traisen is formed by the confluence of two source rivers near Türnitz: the Unreichte Traisen and the Rechte Traisen. One of the most spectacular projects was the relocation of the Traisen estuary during the construction of the Altenwörth Danube power plant. A completely new, near-natural river course was created through the alluvial forests, which is now an important biotope for fish and birds.
