This square is considered the second most important square in Brussels after the Grand Place. The Bourse was built in the neoclassical style between 1860 and 1870. Its architectural details make the building one of the most magnificent and elaborate in Brussels. The Bourse ceased to be used for commercial purposes in 1996. It is now used for exhibitions and other events.
Also located here is the beautiful fountain of Auguste Place, a renowned lawyer, politician, historian, and liberal thinker of the city of Brussels.
