The Church of St. Francis was originally a monastery church of a Minorite convent. The origins of the monastery go back to 1651. The foundation stone for today's church building took place in 1717. However, the consecration of the church could not be celebrated until 1748. As part of the secularization, the monastery was abolished in 1803 and finally closed in 1811. The buildings - with the exception of the church - were later sold and demolished.
