Tarrafal is one of the 22 municipalities of Cape Verde. It is located in the north of the island of Santiago.
Tarrafal has two mountain ranges: Monte Graciosa (642 meters) to the north and Serra Malagueta (1,063 meters) to the south.
In the city of Tarrafal, the main economic activities are agriculture, livestock farming, fishing, tourism, construction, and all activities related to trade, services, and small industries. Almost all fishermen use small boats. The fish is sold almost exclusively within the municipality. Irrigation is used for agriculture.
