This is the Ishii family's residence, which served as Yakage-juku's honjin (lodging for daimyo and nobles) during the Edo period.

Nationally Important Cultural Property: Designated a Nationally Important Cultural Property in 1967.

Prestigious Architecture: This prestigious building was used for purposes such as alternate attendance. In addition to the standard entrance, it features a separate gate for high-ranking guests and a karahafu porch.

Sake Brewing Merchant: The Ishii family made their fortune brewing in Yakage from the early Edo period. Tools used in sake brewing, such as barrels, remain on the property, making them valuable folk artifacts.

Precious Townscape: Yakage Town still boasts both honjin and wakihonjin (backup lodgings for honjin), and its historic townscape has been designated a Nationally Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. It is rare nationwide for both honjin and wakihonjin to remain together.
