Bryggen is the Hanseatic Quarter and Bergen's oldest settlement in Norway, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. The quarter consists of characteristic wooden houses and warehouses that once served as Hanseatic trading offices. Despite many fires, including those in 1702 and 1955, the structure was rebuilt using traditional designs and methods, preserving its historic character. Today, the buildings house a mix of shops, restaurants, and offices.
