The sandstone gorge is worth a visit at any time of year. In summer it is covered in lush greenery, in winter it presents impressive icicles. Whether it is warm or cold, the paths here require concentration and surefootedness - otherwise you risk slipping or getting wet feet. Various legends tell how the gorge got its name. Perhaps a devil once rode down to hell with a sinful knight. But perhaps there was also once a witches' dance floor here.

Teufelskirche is a gorge in the Rähtsandstein and an adventure playground in a "mystical world". The path through the gorge leads in some places over wooden bridges or stone blocks to get anywhere. Sometimes you sink into the mud up to your ankles, waterproof footwear is advisable and good sure-footedness is necessary. At the end of the gorge, a small waterfall flows down the sandstone layers. At the waterfall, stairs lead into the gorge and an information board has been installed.
