The story of Luiz da Rocha, in Beja, begins with the confectioner Luiz da Rocha, who, in 1893, opened the eponymous bakery-café, becoming a central point of the city and a repository of convent and regional sweets. After the 25th of April Revolution, it was managed by the cooperative "Os Trabalhadores Unidos," which maintains it as a cultural and gastronomic landmark.
