straussenfarm-steppacherhof.de/5/startseiteThe ostrich (struthio camelus) is the largest bird on earth. It can reach a height of almost 3 meters and weigh up to 150 kg.
The roosters have beautiful black and white plumage, the plumage of the hens, like that of the young, is dull and gray-brown. The neck and legs are featherless.Due to their long neck and excellent eyesight, ostriches can see their enemies from a distance and are therefore relatively safe from predators.
They have only 2 toes on each foot, one strong running toe and one side toe. The long claw on the inner toe is an effective weapon.
The fast giants can give dangerous kicks against attackers with their strong legs.
By the way: one kick is enough to kill a person.
