Hike first through fields and later in the “jungle” of the Wutach Gorge. Good footwear is required. Do not walk in the rain or shortly thereafter. Then it can get dangerously slippery. Back on the rustic Sauschwänzlebahn with entertainment on the train.

The "Sauschwänzlebahn" is a train route like from a famous German children's book: The tracks wind through the landscape, tunnels lead through mountains, valleys are overcome with stately bridges and a steam locomotive in the middle of the route ... you almost believe the whistle of the locomotive and that heavy iron bars that drive the train.
On the "Sauschwänzlebahn" you will experience nostalgic flair surrounded by beautiful nature. The route leads 25 kilometers from Blumberg-Zollhaus to Weizen across four bridges and through six tunnels - and back again. The path is lined with great views of the surrounding valleys, the Wutach Gorge, the Black Forest and, in good weather, even the Alps.
We drive the Sauschwänzlebahn in style with historic steam locomotives and wagons. The locomotives have a lot to do when it comes to overcoming the 231 meters of altitude. Every journey from the train stations and every steep ascent becomes a unique listening experience.
When we talk about the “Sauschwänzlebahn”, we don't mean the locomotives, but the route itself! Anyone who thinks of a pig when the “Sauschwänzlebahn” gives its name is also wrong. The museum railway takes its name from one of its tunnels. The "Große Stockhalde" forms a spiral in its course. The train travels in a circle in the tunnel, overcoming 15 meters of altitude. And because this route in the tunnel as a whole is reminiscent of a curled pork tail, the railway line is called the "Sauschwänzlebahn".
A ride on the "Sauschwänzlebahn" can be wonderfully combined with great hikes in the region. First you walk through nature - then you go back with the "Sauschwänzlebahn". The perfect combination of exercise and experience!

Unfortunately, the railway will only run with diesel locomotives in 2022, which is due to the lack of volunteers and the increased costs
But also such an experience
